“Witnessing first-hand the terrible effects of memory loss in my own family has inspired me to support Hearts & Minds Activity Center. I am proud to be a donor to such an important organization.”

Make a difference and volunteer with us!

Offer your time and talents to enrich the lives of seniors living with dementia. Our adult day program offers a variety of tailored activities, peer socialization, physical activity, and community performances. Services are offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.

Activity and Engagement Volunteers
As an activity & engagement volunteer, you will interact directly with our clients by participating and leading activities, games, arts and crafts, and cooking projects. You will get to know our clients through meaningful conversations and expressing a genuine interest in their lives.

Services and Entertainment Volunteers
If you have a special skill or talent you would love to share, we want to hear from you! Whether it’s performing music or theater, teaching a chair yoga class, or providing pet or art therapy, we welcome groups and individuals eager to showcase their passions.

Special Events and Administrative Support
We offer a number of special events throughout the year that require additional support, including an open house and annual gala. If you prefer to get involved behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you! We also offer opportunities to provide administrative assistance, including data entry, correspondence, and filing.

  1. Attend a 1 hour volunteer orientation at Hearts & Minds Activity Center. Email diana@hearts-minds.org to register for an upcoming orientation.
  2. Complete a volunteer application form (given after attending an orientation).
  3. Provide documentation of a negative TB test from within the past year and COVID-19 vaccination.

Is there a minimum age requirement to volunteer?
We welcome volunteers of all ages! However, any individuals under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult during their volunteer service.

Do I have to have experience before I can volunteer?
No experience is required, and we encourage volunteers of varying backgrounds and skills.

I am part of a group – would we all be able to volunteer?
We welcome both individuals and groups interested in volunteering, including high schools, universities, employer groups, and community service organizations. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and provide documentation of a negative TB test.

What should I wear when I come in to volunteer?
We do have a dress code of no jeans, shorts, tank tops, or open-toed shoes. Black pants or khakis, comfortable shoes, and a solid-colored shirt are recommended. Please note there may be times when you go outside so you may want to have an additional layer of clothing depending on the time of year.
